Health and Human Services Leader

Ramon Rojano is an experienced mental health, social services, and public health practitioner and a highly motivated leader whose primary passion is to make things happen.

 

In mental health, he has practiced as a psychiatrist, therapist, and coach. He focuses on helping individuals and families transform and improves their lives.

 

As a leader, he has served as director of mental health, public health, and social services, in both public and private organizations.

 

As an academician, he has thought in several universities, both in Colombia and the U.S.  Recently named visiting professor of the Universidad del Norte and faculty of the Universidad Simón Bolívar. He has published several articles and book chapters and has presented his work at many conferences.

 

As a researcher, he has mixed systemic thinking with population health and resilience theories. He developed Community Family Therapy, an approach that has been replicated internationally, and the Middle-Class Express, a program that helps families go from poverty to the middle class. His work has been recognized in dozens of journals, books, and newspaper stories.

 

As a volunteer, he continuously has donated his time to contribute to many community projects both in the U.S. and Colombia.

 

He completed studies of medicine and psychiatry in Colombia. In 1986, he was invited to come to the University of Connecticut. In the U.S. obtained a Ph.D. in psychology, a master's in public health and family therapy, and became a certified professional coach.

 

Throughout his career, he has received many awards and honors. He is a member of several professional organizations. He is married and has three children.
